“The members of this advisory board are all leaders in their respective fields of study. Collectively, their scientific expertise will assist Qualyst in its mission to be the world leader in providing novel ADMET technologies to the life sciences industry,” said Scott E. Neuville, Qualyst President and CEO. “The creation of this advisory board is another milestone of achievement in the advancement of our corporate objectives.”
Other members of the Scientific Advisory Board include:
* Ronald T. Borchardt, Ph.D. Solon E. Summerfield Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, The University of Kansas. Dr. Borchardt was recently chosen as the 24th recipient of the Host-Madsen Medal by the Board of Pharmaceutical Sciences in The Hague, Netherlands, the International Pharmaceutical Federation's most prestigious scientific award given in alternate years to an outstanding pharmaceutical scientist. Dr. Borchardt is the author or co-author of approximately 400 scientific publications and 350 abstracts. He is the editor of six books and the series editor of "Pharmaceutical Biotechnology." His research focuses on drug design and drug delivery. Dr. Borchardt is also a member of the Qualyst Board of Directors.
* Ken R. Brouwer, Ph.D., RPh., Vice President of Research and Development, Qualyst, Inc.
* Richard B. Kim, M.D. Associate Professor, Department of Medicine and Pharmacology, Vanderbilt University. Dr. Kim’s research focuses on the factors that contribute to differences in how individuals metabolize and respond to drugs. He studies drug transporters and drug-metabolizing cytochrome P450 enzymes both at the molecular level and in human beings. Dr. Kim received a 2002 New Investigator Award from the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX), the major international scientific society for investigators of drug metabolism.
* Anthony Y.H. Lu, Ph.D. Adjunct Professor (In Residence), The Susan Lehman Cullman Laboratory for Cancer Research, Department of Chemical Biology, Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Dr. Lu retired as Executive Director at Merck in 1999 having been employed by Roche and Merck for the past 30 years. In 1996, Dr. Lu received the Bernard Brodie Award in Drug Metabolism from the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. Dr. Lu has authored or co-authored more than 230 publications in his fields of interest, including practical applications of drug metabolizing enzymes.
* Gerald T. Miwa, Ph.D., Vice President, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, Millennium Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Miwa's interests are in the application of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics to the optimization of drug candidates for development and to the elucidation of the chemical and biochemical basis for drug toxicities. Previously he served as Vice President of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics at the DuPont Pharmaceuticals Company in Wilmington, DE. He is a past chairman, Drug Metabolism Steering Committee of PhRMA and is a Fellow of AAAS.
* Gary M. Pollack, Ph.D. Professor at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill-School of Pharmacy. Dr. Pollack is also a founder of Qualyst, Inc.
