RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., U.S.A. (August 2, 2005)
Qualyst, Inc. today announced the addition of monkey, dog, and mouse hepatocyte systems to its B CLEAR® product line. B CLEAR® is Qualyst’s patented in vitro sandwich-cultured hepatocyte system for the assessment of hepatobiliary disposition, biliary clearance and drug transport. “Qualyst is pleased to respond to growing customer demand for additional species to complement B-CLEAR®’s human and rat systems” commented Dr. Ian Mehr, Qualyst’s vice president of business development.
“The use of multiple species hepatocytes with B-CLEAR® is a compelling in vitro ADME screening paradigm,” said Dr. Ronald Borchardt, Solon E. Summerfield Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, The University of Kansas, and member of Qualyst’s Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Board. “B-CLEAR® provides the only in vitro means to test biliary clearance and hepatic drug transport in a physiologically relevant fashion. Utilization of the major pre-clinical species’ hepatocytes with B CLEAR® allows in vitro and in vivo biliary excretion data to be interpreted for robust predictions of clinical pharmacokinetic outcomes.”
